Day 1: Departure to Medjugorje

Begin your pilgrimage by heading to your local airport, where you will board an overnight flight. Meals will be provided during the flight.

 

​Day 2: Arrival in Medjugorje

​Upon arrival in Europe, transfer to your short connecting flight, either to Dubrovnik, Split, or Sarajevo. After landing, collect your luggage and proceed to the arrivals area. A guide or driver will meet you and escort you on a scenic 2.5-hour journey to the peaceful village of Medjugorje. Once settled, enjoy dinner and rest for the evening.

​Medjugorje is renowned for its peaceful atmosphere and simple beauty. Throughout your time here, you'll deepen your spiritual life alongside fellow pilgrims from across the globe. A local guide will be available to assist your group as you partake in the village's sacred activities.

 

Highlights of your spiritual journey may include:

 

Daily Mass: Each day, gather for Mass at St. James Church at 10:00 AM. Mass will be conducted in English, and all pilgrims will have their religious items blessed at the end of each service.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Meditate in the presence of the Eucharist, responding to Our Lady's call to be closer to Christ. Eucharistic Adoration is held at the outdoor altar of St. James Church on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The veneration of the Cross takes place on Fridays inside the church. The experience of Adoration, often surrounded by thousands of pilgrims, is one of the most profound moments for visitors.

Climbing Apparition Hill: Journey up the sacred hill where the visionaries first saw the Virgin Mary. At the base of Apparition Hill is the Blue Cross, where Mary appeared while the children sought refuge during early Communist oppression. As you ascend, you are invited to pray the Rosary, pausing at intervals to reflect on the mysteries depicted in large bronze plaques. At the summit stands a statue marking the site of Mary’s first apparition. Take time for private prayer.

 

Climbing Mt. Krizevac (Cross Mountain): In 1933, the villagers of Medjugorje built a towering 30-foot cross atop Mt. Krizevac to honor Christ’s crucifixion. Pilgrims can climb the mountain, reflecting on the Stations of the Cross, marked by large bronze images at each station. At the peak, take time for prayer before the cross.

 

Visit the Community of Cenacolo and Mother's Village: This inspirational community, founded by Sr. Elvira Petrozzi, welcomes those on a path of spiritual renewal. Listen to moving testimonies from the men and women in the community as they share their journey back to Christ.

In Medjugorje, the village of Bijakovici is often referred to as the "Mother's Village" (Majčino sela). It is a children's home and orphanage founded to care for abandoned and needy children. Established in the 1990s, it aims to provide a nurturing environment and support for children who have experienced difficult circumstances.

The village emphasizes love, care, and education, embodying the spirit of community and compassion that Medjugorje is known for. Visitors often learn about the work being done there during their pilgrimage, and many choose to support the initiative in various ways.

 

Excursions to Nearby Sites:

Kravice Waterfalls: Located near the town of Ljubuški in Bosnia and Herzegovina, are a stunning natural attraction. These waterfalls cascade about 25 meters (82 feet) into a beautiful lake, creating a picturesque setting that draws many visitors.

The area is part of a nature park, and you can enjoy activities like swimming, hiking, and picnicking. The best time to visit is during the spring or early summer when the water flow is at its peak. The lush surroundings and vibrant turquoise waters make it a popular spot for photography and relaxation.

 

Tihaljina: Located about 20 miles away, you will visit the Church of the Immaculate Conception, home to the renowned Our Lady of Grace statue. Here, you will also have a private Mass and time for prayer.

 

Široki Brijeg: Just 18 miles from Medjugorje, visit the Franciscan Friary of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This site is marked by the martyrdom of thirty Franciscan friars, who were killed in 1945 for their faith. You will also learn about Fr. Jozo Zovko, a key figure during the early days of the Medjugorje apparitions.

 

Day 9: Departure from Medjugorje

After an early breakfast, bid farewell to Medjugorje. You’ll be transferred by coach to the airport in Dubrovnik, Split, or Sarajevo for your return flight home.
